Bonnie Lee
Miss Bonnie Lee, our beautiful seal point Himalayan passed away Friday after a long battle with kidney disease. Bonnie was 18 years old and had been at the Blue Bell since she was just two! I do not know the details of why she came to be with us but she sure loved being here! :)
She was a chicken fiend – and would cry this loud cry for chicken and follow you around and inhale whatever she could find – pushing all others out of the way. My favorite memory of Bonnie is from one evening when I was passing out chicken from a plastic container. I was bending down and placing chicken on the floor for cats to my right and when I turned around to get more food out of the container that was in my left hand, Bonnie’s full head was inside the container and she was gobbling as much chicken as she could! :) The past couple of years she was not as aggressive or vocal with going after the chicken but she still got excited and would inhale whatever she was given.
Bonnie was one of the first cats I learned to give subQ fluids to and she put up with my learning curve very well, hanging over the left side of the exam table and letting me know with a loud meow that she had quite enough and would like her chicken treat now. :)
She was also one of the first recipients of my songs. Sung to the tune of “My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean” I would sing it to her while I was giving her fluids…
My Bonnie gets subQ fluids
My Bonnie gets Famotidine
My Bonnie’s in early kidney failure
Lord, please make my Bonnie healthy
